Bring Nature Inside for Toddlers

When infants and toddlers can’t go inside, you can bring nature inside. Cut out pictures from magazines, or draw pictures of flowers and trees. When your toddler uses his fingers and hands to trace them with a finger or a crayon, your child is learning to use fine motor skills.

Toilet paper rolls can become indoor butterflies when you cut each roll into four equal-sized pieces, reports PBS Kids for Parents. Bend each of the four pieces at the middle and ends to form “wing” shapes. Then, let your older toddler color the pieces. Glue together with a stick (at the center to make the body) and two tiny twigs (at the end of the stick/body, for antennae).
